سُئِلَ الصَّادِقُ (ع): لِمَ كُرِهَ الصِّيَامُ فِي أَيَّامِ
التَّشْرِيقِ؟ فَقَالَ: لأََنَّ الْقَوْمَ زُوَّارُ اللٌّهِ وَ هُمْ فِي
ضِيَافَتِهِ وَ لاَ يَنْبَغِي لِلضَّيْفِ أَنْ يَّصُومَ عِنْدَ مَنْ
زَارَهُ وَ أَضَافَهُ.

 As-Sadiq [Imam Ja’far Ibn Muhammad] (peace be upon him) was asked, “Why
is it discouraged to fast on the days of Tashriq (11th, 12th, and 13th
of Dhul Hijjah)?”  The Imam (peace be upon him) replied, “Since people
are visiting Allah and are His guests (during these days), it is not
advisable that a guest should fast in the presence of the One whom he is
visiting.”
