Lapses الزّلل

  1. Whoever looks at his own lapses, the faults of others seem trivial to him.

1ـ مَنْ أبْصَرَ زَلَّتَهُ صَغُرَتْ عِندَهُ زَلَّةُ غَيْرِهِ.

  1. Whoever is blind to his own lapses, the errors of others seem great to him.

2ـ مَنْ عَمِىَ عَنْ زَلَّتِهِ اِسْتَعْظَمَ زَلَّةَ غَيْرِهِ.

  1. Lapses are a cause of regret.

3ـ الزَّلَلُ مَنْدَمَةٌ.

  1. The lapse of one who is [evidently] pious is the worst of lapses and the sickness of ignobility is the most repulsive of sicknesses.

4ـ زَلَّةُ المُتَوَقّي أشَدُّ زَلَّة، وعِلَّةُ اللَُّؤْمِ أقْبَحُ

عِلَّة.

  1. The slip of the foot is the easiest to recover from [unlike other lapses].

5ـ زَلَّةُ القَدَمِ أهْوَنُ اسْتِدْراك.
