Intention

Intention-اَلنّيَّةُ

  1. Righteous intention is one of the two actions.[^1]

1ـ اَلنِّيَّةُ الصَّالِحَةُ أحَدُ العَمَلَينِ.

  1. The best of provisions is having good inner consciences.

2ـ أفْضَلُ الذَّخائِرِ حُسْنُ الضَّمائِرِ.

  1. The closest intentions to success are those that are nearest to righteousness.

3ـ أقْرَبُ النِّيّاتِ بِالنَّجاحِ أعْوَدُها بِالصَّلاحِ.

  1. The most effective thing in making mercy flow forth [and surround you] is having mercy in your heart for all the people.

4ـ أبْلَغُ ما تُسْتَدَرُّ بِهِ الرَّحْمَةُ أنْ تُضْمَرَ لِجَميعِ

النّاسِ الرَّحْمَةُ.

  1. Verily Allah, the Glorified, knows the hidden intention of every concealer, the speech of every speaker and the action of every doer.

5ـ إنَّ اللّهَ سُبْحانَهُ عِنْدَ إضْمارِ كُلِّ مُضْمِر، وقَوْلِ كُلِّ

قائِل، وعَمَلِ كُلِّ عامِل.

  1. Verily making intentions sincere and free from corruption is more difficult for the doers [of good deeds] than a prolonged, difficult struggle.

6ـ إنَّ تَخْليصَ النِّيَّةِ مِنَ الفَسادِ أشَدُّ مِنَ العامِلينَ مِنْ

طُولِ الاِجْتِهادِ.

  1. Verily Allah, the Glorified, likes a person’s intention towards the people to be good just as He likes his intention in His obedience to be strong, not shaky.

7ـ إنَّ اللّهَ سُبْحانَهُ يُحِبُّ أنْ تَكُونَ نِيَّةُ الإنْسانِ

لِلنّاسِ جَمِيلَةً، كَما يُحِبُّ أنْ تَكُونَ نِيَّتُهُ في طاعَتِهِ قَوِيَّةً غَيْرَ مَدْخُولَة.

  1. Actions are the fruits of intentions.

8ـ اَلأعْمالُ ثِمارُ النِّيّاتِ.

  1. Intention is the basis of action.

9ـ اَلنِيَّةُ أساسُ العَمَلِ.

  1. Having a good intention brings about reward.

10ـ إحْسانُ النِّيـَّةِ يُوجِبُ المَثُوبَةَ.

  1. When the intention gets corrupted, affliction befalls.

11ـ إذا فَسَدَتِ النِّيـَّةُ وَقَعَتِ البَلِيَّةُ.

  1. Through good intentions, what is sought is attained.

12ـ بِحُسْنِ النِّيـّاتِ تُنْجَحُ المَطالِبُ.

  1. The servant attains nearness to Allah through the sincerity of his intention.

13ـ تَقَرُّبُ العَبْدِ إلَى اللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ بِإخْلاصِ نِيَّتِهِ.

  1. Making intentions sincere and free from corruption is more difficult for the doers [of good deeds] than a long, hard struggle.

14ـ تَخْلِيصُ النِّيـَّةِ مِنَ الفَسادِ أشَدُّ عَلَى العامِلينَ مِنْ

طُولِ الجِهادِ.

  1. Having good aims [and intentions] is an indication of legitimate birth.

15ـ جَمِيلُ المَقْصَدِ يَدُلُّ عَلى طَهارَةِ المَوْلِدِ.

  1. Having a good intention is a means of attaining one’s aspiration.

16ـ جَمِيلُ النِّـيَّةِ سَبَبٌ لِبُلُوغِ الأُمْنِيَّةِ.

  1. Good intention is the beauty of the innermost consciences.

17ـ حُسْنُ النِّـيَّةِ جَمالُ السَّرائِرِ.

  1. Good intention is from the soundness of [one’s] conscience.

18ـ حُسْنُ النِّيَّةِ مِنْ سَلامَةِ الطَّوِيَّةِ.

  1. Many an intention is more beneficial than action.

19ـ رُبَّ نِيَّة أنْفَعُ مِنْ عَمَل.

  1. Evil intention is a hidden malady.

20ـ سُوءُ النِّيَّةِ داءٌ دَفينٌ.

  1. The sincerity of [one’s] intention is to the extent of the strength of [his] faith.

21ـ عَلى قَدْرِقُوَّةِ الدّينِ يَكُونُ خُلُوصُ النِّيَّةِ.

  1. When the intention becomes corrupt, blessings are taken away.

22ـ عِنْدَ فَسادِ النِّيَّةِ تَرْتَفِعُ البَرَكَةُ.

  1. In sincerity of intentions lies the success of [all] matters.

23ـ فِي إخْلاصِ النِّـيَّاتِ نَجاحُ الأُمُورِ.

  1. If the intentions became sincere, the actions would become pure.

24ـ لَوْ خَلَصَتِ النِّـيّاتُ لَزَكَتِ الأعْمالُ.

  1. Whoever has an evil intention is deprived of his aspiration.

25ـ مَنْ أساءَ النِّـيَّةَ مُنِعَ الأُمْنِيَّةَ.

  1. Whoever makes his intention sincere is purified from vileness.

26ـ مَنْ أخْلَصَ النِيَّةَ تَنَزَّهَ عَنِ الدَّنِيَّةِ.

  1. One whose intention is good, his reward is increased, his life becomes good and affection for him becomes inevitable.

27ـ مَنْ حَسُنَتْ نِيَّتُهُ كَثُرَتْ مَثُوبَتُهُ وطابَتْ عيشَتُهُ

ووَجَبَتْ مَوَدَّتُهُ.

  1. One whose intention is good is assisted with God-given success.

28ـ مَنْ حَسُنَتْ نِيَّتُهُ أمَدَّهُ التَّوْفيقُ.

  1. A person’s attainment of all that he wishes for, such as a good life, the security of his flock and an increase in wealth, is through the goodness of his intention and excellence of his character.

29ـ وُصُولُ المَرْءِ إلى كُلِّ ما يَبْتَغيهِ مِنْ طيبِ عَيْشِهِ وأمْنِ

سِرْبِهِ وسَعَةِ رِزْقِهِ بِحُسْنِ نِيَّتِهِ وسَعَةِ خُلْقِهِ.

  1. He who has no intention has no action.

30ـ لاعَمَلَ لِمَنْ لانِيَّةَ لَهُ.

  1. He who has no knowledge has no intention.

31ـ لانِيَّةَ لِمَنْ لاعِلْمَ لَهُ.

  1. One whose resolve [and intention] is evil, his death is a cause of happiness.

32ـ مَنْ ساءَ عَقْدُهُ سَرَّ فَقْدُهُ.
